Paths in Adobe® Photoshop® (PSD) files are not supported in Corel PHOTO-PAINT.
QuickTime™ VR version 1 movie files are not supported.
Exporting movies that are less than 200 X 200 pixels and 50 dpi as QuickTime™ VR using the DVNTSC or DVPAL compression format may cause system instabilities. The problem is in the QuickTime™ VR compression formats.
Get Info
The virtual memory information contained in the Get Info dialog for Corel PHOTO-PAINT is inaccurate due to the fact much of the application is contained in Shared Libraries.
Low-res editing
Low Res editing is not available in the current version of the product.
Extensions
Several Macintosh extensions are required to use features in Corel PHOTO-PAINT 8:
• The Apple Guide extension is required to use the Corel PHOTO-PAINT 8 tutorial.
• The AppleScript™ extension and library are required to record and run scripts in Corel PHOTO-PAINT 8
• Kodak® CMS extensions are required for the Color Management system and are installed by Corel's Installer
• QuickTime™ 3.0 extensions are required to use the QuickTime™ features in Corel PHOTO-PAINT 8. An Installer for QuickTime™ 3.0 is included on the CD.
• ColorSync™ extension is required to access the ColorSync™ profiles used by Corel PHOTO-PAINT 8. An installer for ColorSync™ 2.5 is included on the CD.
Web browsers and JPEG images
32-Bit JPEG images are not currently supported in Web browsers. If you are saving Progressive JPEG images for use on the Web, make sure that your Web authoring tool and/or browser supports the Progressive JPEG format.
Mac/PC platform incompatibilities
Scripts generated in the Microsoft™ Windows® version of Corel PHOTO-PAINT cannot be run on the Macintosh version. The scripting language on the Macintosh is different than that used in Microsoft™ Windows®. The Macintosh version of Corel PHOTO-PAINT supports AppleScript™; the Windows® version supports CorelSCRIPT™.
Corel PHOTO-PAINT (CPT) files saved in Low-res mode in the Windows® environment cannot be opened on the Macintosh due to the differing scripting languages used.
Effects
Lighting Effects. It is not recommended that you delete all light sources. If you run into difficulties, select the "Reset" button to restore orginal settings.
Third-party plug-ins
To use third-party plug-ins with Corel PHOTO-PAINT, copy the plug-in or an alias to the plug-in to the Corel Graphics 8:Plug-ins folder and then restart Corel PHOTO-PAINT.
Some plug-ins were not designed for use in 256-color or 256-grays display modes. If problems with the plug-in interface occur in these display modes, switch to the Thousands of Colors display mode.
The amount of memory allocated to Corel PHOTO-PAINT must include enough memory for plug-ins to function. If you are working with large images or images with many objects and you intend to use plug-ins, you should increase the amount of memory available to Corel PHOTO-PAINT.
Most plug-ins were designed to work with 24-bit RGB or 8-bit grayscale images. Though many plug-ins will also work in other color modes, the colors in the previews of the effects will often not match the colors in the results. If the plug-ins that you want to use are not available or apply incorrectly in CMYK, paletted, black & white, or LAB color modes, try switching to RGB or grayscale to use the plug-ins and then convert back to the color mode you want the image in after you are finished editing it.
The Auto F/X™ Photographic Edges™ plug-in is not supported under Mac® OS 8.5.
Text input
Currently, if the font that is selected does not support Bold and/or Italic fonts, enabling the Bold and/or Italic options will not have an effect.
Dual-monitor display
Turning dual-monitor video mirroring on/off causes improper image window positioning. When using a dual-monitor Macintosh system, enabling/disabling Video Mirroring while Corel PHOTO-PAINT is running may cause some palettes and/or dialog boxes to be repositioned incorrectly.
WorldScript Support
If you have WorldScript language installed on your system, Corel PHOTO-PAINT will prompt you to specify a WorldScript language when you launch the application. To work with a different WorldScript language it is necessary to relaunch the application. If you disable the WorldScript dialog on application launch, you can change the WorldScript setting in Edit Menu - Preferences (Workspaces - General page). The application must be restarted for the change to take effect.
To type Asian characters, when using an Asian version of the Mac OS or WorldScript, you need to manually select the Asian fonts from the Font lists on the Property Bar or Tools Settings Palette prior to typing the text.
General
Context menu extensions are not supported within Corel PHOTO-PAINT.
